Saved Cards (Tokenization)

The saved cards feature allows customers to securely store their payment information for future purchases.

Requirements

  • Saved Cards setting must be enabled
  • Sub Terminal must be configured with valid credentials
  • Customer must be logged in to their account

How It Works

  1. Customer checks “Save payment information to my account for future purchases”
  2. After successful payment, a token is stored (not actual card data)
  3. On future purchases, customer can select the saved card
  4. Only card type and last 4 digits are displayed for identification

Managing Saved Cards

Customers can manage their saved cards from:

✅ Security: Pelecard stores actual card data on their PCI-compliant servers. Your WordPress site only stores a reference token.

Subscriptions Support

Pelecard Gateway fully supports WooCommerce Subscriptions for recurring payments.

Prerequisites

  • WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin installed and activated ($279/year from WooCommerce.com)
  • Sub Terminal configured (required for tokenization)
  • Valid server cron job (see important note below)

Setting Up Subscription Products

1) Create a Product

In WooCommerce > Products > Add New, set the product type to either:

  • Simple subscription – Single subscription product
  • Variable subscription – Subscription with variations
2) Configure Subscription Options
Option Description
Subscription price Recurring amount and billing frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly)
Subscription length How many billing cycles before subscription ends (0 = never expires)
Sign-up fee One-time fee charged at signup
Free trial Trial period before first payment

Managing Subscriptions

View and manage subscriptions in:

For each subscription you can see:

  • Status (Active, On Hold, Cancelled, etc.)
  • Items and total amount
  • Start date and next payment date
  • Related orders (parent and renewal orders)

⚠️ Critical: Server Cron ConfigurationBy default, WordPress uses “wp-cron” which only runs when visitors access your site. This is NOT reliable for subscription renewals.

You must set up a real server cron job to ensure recurring payments process on time:

  1. Add to your wp-config.php: define('DISABLE_WP_CRON', true);
  2. Set up a server cron job to run every 5-15 minutes:
XML CODE:
*/5 * * * * wget -q -O - https://yoursite.com/wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron >/dev/null 2>&1
